The Arts Co-op Program’s iSchool Student of the Year Award is given annually to two students; one to a MLIS or dual student (who used their MLIS background on the co-op job) and the other to a MAS or dual student (who used their MAS background on the co-op job). These awards recognize outstanding achievement in all aspects of the UBC iSchool co-op student’s performance, including academics, the workplace, and professional/community involvement.
WINNERS
MLIS Co-op Student of the Year: Bailey Bjolin
Area of Study: Archival Studies, Library & Information Studies
Work Term: Archival Digitization, BC Hydro
In her co-op terms with BC Hydro, Bailey worked in a corporate library environment where she digitized over 3,500 images for the Historical Photograph Collection, and conducted daily operations for the library and research for an archival strategy.

MAS Co-op Student of the Year: Kira Vandermeulen
Areas of Study: Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies
Work Term: Appraisal and Processing Archivist, SFU Archives and Records Management
During her work term, Kira reviewed and appraised 1,200 boxes of unscheduled records and also processed an accrual to the Board of Governors Fonds.

Honourable Mention: Lauren Lok Man Wong
Areas of Study: Archival Studies, Library and Information Studies
Work Term: Collection Assistant, Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre (NIMC)
Lauren was involved in cataloging and tracking materials to ensure an efficient and organized system. In her role, she listed and recorded every item within the archives.
