About

Harris brings an empathetic and student-centered approach to his work with Undergraduate students at all stages of their journey in the UBC Arts Co-op Program. Prior to joining the Arts Co-op team as a Co-op Career Educator in 2023, Harris studied and worked in various capacities in the field of education. Most recently, he completed his Master’s of Education, specializing in Higher Education. During his studies, he deepened his knowledge of various forms of higher education systems, the impact of experiential learning for students, and the role he can play within these systems to create positive experiences for all students.

Harris is committed to supporting students navigate and find employment that is meaningful to them following their formal education. He further developed and applied this commitment through various roles with the work-integrated learning platform, Riipen, from 2020-2022. Harris also brings a unique perspective to his role as a Co-op Career Educator, as he spent 2 years as an International Teacher Recruiter in Shanghai. This role allowed him to spend countless hours on the other side of the hiring process – a perspective that will benefit the students he advises throughout their time in Co-op.

Outside of his passion for facilitating impactful work-integrated learning experiences with students, Harris enjoys everything cycling related and can be found on his bike or fixing his bike, or reading a book outside.
