Excellence in the Workplace

Aman’s supervisor praises him for revolutionizing the organization’s marketing assets. This involved streamlining a 65-page Festival Guide into a concise ten-page fold-out, enhancing customer experience by reformatting wayfinding and informational signage, and creating elements to support their initiatives, including an industry-leading podcast series.
Expanding Classroom Skills to Career Opportunities
Aman’s initial career interests were limited to his Psychology major, and he felt uncompetitive in the job market. He hoped that the Arts Co-op Program would provide access to entry-level professional opportunities that aligned with his goal of becoming a clinical psychologist. However, Aman’s experience with Vancouver Fringe helped him realize the value of diverse job experiences.
As a Graphic Design and Marketing Assistant, Aman leveraged his classroom skills, such as research, despite the role being unrelated to his degree. Furthermore, Aman’s academic and writing skills played a vital role as he effectively communicated through various formats like social media and blog posts.
Personal and Professional Development
Aman believes Arts Co-op has had a significant impact on how he views his value and skill set as an Arts student in a competitive job market. This newfound confidence was the most valuable part of being in co-op. The team at the Fringe provided Aman with creative autonomy and trust, which had a transformative effect and propelled him to assume leadership and volunteer roles in the UBC community, including the founding presidency of the AMS Music Production Club.
Through Arts Co-op, Aman’s horizons have expanded to embrace diverse work experiences that will contribute to his future development as a well-rounded clinical psychologist.
