2024 Undergraduate Arts Co-op Student of the Year
As the winner of the 2024 Undergraduate Student of the Year Award, Anusha Jindgar’s remarkable co-op journey spans four impactful work terms with industry leaders KPMG and Deloitte, where she consistently showcased her sharp analytical skills, adaptability, and innovative thinking.
Driving Business Excellence and Innovation
In her role as a Grants and Incentives Analyst with Deloitte’s Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi3) team, Anusha worked with clients across diverse sectors, including clean technology, manufacturing, and software development. Tasked with drafting high-quality, customized grant applications under tight deadlines, she demonstrated a keen ability to rapidly learn and tailor her approach to meet each client’s unique needs. Her strategic insights and precision helped 20 clients access significant funding needed to tackle various challenges such as upscaling, green technology adoption and lean manufacturing.
Anusha’s earlier experience as a Change Management Intern at KPMG further solidified her consulting expertise. She played a pivotal role in supporting clients through organizational transformation efforts, helping them seamlessly integrate firm-wide changes such as mergers or the adoption of new technologies. She developed strategic roadmaps to guide companies through these transitions, ensuring both financial success and positive employee outcomes.
Bridging Academics and Industry
Anusha’s academic foundation in Economics, Finance, and Psychology was instrumental in her success. Her ability to analyze budgets, create microeconomic models, and assess the economic, environmental, and social impacts of client projects brought a unique edge to her roles. By integrating classroom concepts into real-world scenarios, Anusha not only enhanced her professional performance but also excelled academically, earning a coveted spot on the Dean’s List at UBC.
A standout moment for Anusha was when she applied her knowledge of economic models and macroeconomic trends to assess the risks and economic benefits associated with a client’s patented software. Leveraging her classroom learning, she crafted a compelling grant and financial application that ultimately helped the client secure a million-dollar grant. This seamless blend of theory and practice distinguished her as a forward-thinking analyst.
Shaping Future Career Goals
Anusha credits co-op for giving her the confidence, professional network, and empowerment to drive positive change. Inspired by the support she received, she now mentor‘s fellow co-op students—both formally and informally—guiding them through the program and helping them secure roles aligned with their career aspirations. To date, she has supported 17 students with their applications to firms like Deloitte, KPMG, and EY.
Anusha’s impact has not gone unnoticed—she has been offered a role with Deloitte’s Mergers and Acquisitions Strategy Consulting team. In the meantime, she is also in discussions about working part-time with the Grants and Incentives team until her M&A role begins in September.
