As an Administrative Assistant, Emmanuel handled various legal tasks with professionalism and accuracy. He drafted pleadings and letters, obtained and reviewed records and documents, and ensured all materials were error-free and compliant. He also managed and updated claims and cases by keeping track of calendars, entering data in client files, and meeting deadlines. Notably, he supported lawyers in preparing for discoveries, hearings, trials, and meetings by providing them with all the necessary and relevant documents.
Marpole Oakridge Family Place (MOFP)
In this role as Special Events Coordinator, Emmanuel was responsible for planning events and projects. He managed a $100,000 government grant for implementing a sensory space and accessible playground. For this project, Emmanuel oversaw every stage, from initial planning and research to final equipment installation. Emmanuel demonstrated his passion and dedication for this project, which resulted in a positive impact for the community.

As a Political Science student, Emmanuel was familiar with political theories in the lecture hall but lacked opportunities for “hands on” experience with politics. His diverse co-op experiences allowed him to explore different aspects of politics. Working at Kolb Law exposed him to the legal side of politics. While at MOFP, Emmanuel learned to better understand the relationship between governments and constituents.
How Arts Co-op Has Influenced Career Goals
For Emmanuel, co-op broadened his perspective and affirmed the type of career he would like to pursue. It also helped him to gain competitive workplace skills that future employers look for. Co-op further equipped him with job search tactics that will help him navigate a competitive job market. For Emmanuel, co-op helped him to develop a resilient mindset, a characteristic he wishes to embrace in his post-graduation journey.
